TIPI HOLIDAYS IN FRANCE
Creuse is a largely undiscovered area of France, which offers rural activities such as hiking, cycling, watersports, fishing and enjoying the local wildlife, also why not try french cooking at its best, including high quality gastronomic restaurants and small traditional auberges.
Our woodland site gives an opportunity to get closer to nature and watching local wildlife, such as deer, red squirrels, pine martin and badgers. Close by there is the village of Chatelus Malvaleix, which has its own large swimming lake, with beach, bar, restaurant, and all local amenities. There is a market every Friday morning. Within five minutes of our site, you can take part in horseriding, swimming, fishing, mountain-biking (we do offer limited cycle hire on site) and there are guided rambles which take you through typical Creuse countryside passing through traditional villages and natural points of beauty.
Popular tourist attractions include Plateau Millevache with its steam train trips during July and August; Les Monts de Gueret, including the Chabrieres Forest, a chain of hills steeped in history with Gallo-Roman remains; and Lake Vassiviere with its 300kms of walking trails, watersports and arts museum.
The principal towns are:
Gueret - a market town (Thursday and Saturday) with Courtille Leisure Park, Les Loups des Chabrieres (wolf park), Observatorie Planetarium and Museum of Art and Archeology.
Aubusson - a town famous for its tapestries and weaving with a museum and old fortified chateau.
La Souterraine - a market town with a 12th century church on the former pilgrims route.
Boussac - a market town with a famous chateau open to the public.
